Student accomplishments this summer

We have to say that we think we have the most amazing kids here at Littleton Ballet Academy! Yes, I'm definitely partial but it's such a pleasure to teach such talented, kind, beautiful, hard working children who are a delight to be around. Here is a list of the dance accomplishments our students made this summer:

Lauren W, Luisa, Alyssa, and Emma R all attended the 5 week summer intensive at Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet. Lauren and Luisa were in level C1 and Emma and Alyssa were in E2 which was great placement and they studied with some amazing teachers including Darla Hoover, Hilda Morales, Ted Kivitt, Vanessa Zahorian, and Matthew Powell.

Tate received a full scholarship and half housing stipend to Houston Ballet Academy. He studied extensively with Claudio Munoz, and other ballet faculty in a boys program. The school performance was live streamed so we had the pleasure of seeing Tate's performance.

Madeline was accepted to and studied at Pacific Northwest Ballet School with teachers such as Dana Hanson and Meg Potter. PNB is a difficult program to get into.

Rebecca C studied at The Jillana School. She was in the highest level and performed in Serenade and was chosen to perform the female variation from Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux.

Lydia, Lillian, Audrey, and Maggie attended the two week August Course at Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet and Ashley H, Sophia D, Brooke J, Skyler K, and Ethan attended the first week of the August Course. They studied with a variety of CPYB faculty including Marcia Dale Weary and Melinda Howe.

Some of our dancers attended master classes at the Vail International Dance Festival. NYCB principal dancer Tiler Peck gave out awards in her class, sponsored by Body Wrappers. Lauren W and Emma R both won awards and a free leotard of their choice for being the "Most Musical" and Jenna A won an award and a leotard for the best technique!

We were asked to perform at Relay for Life in Littleton replacing a dance group who had to pull out at the last minute. Though many of our dancers were out of town we managed to scrape together some dancers. Emma R, Keagan, Tate R, Lauren W, Lauren V, Jenna, Brooke S, Hailey S, Gabrielle, and Alana. We performed three pieces, including Singin' in the Rain. The first time we performed Singin' in the Rain at a different event it poured so we were happy to have it our rain a little.

In addition, we had lots of participation in all of summer programs and EVERY student improved this summer! Special thanks to our faculty and guest faculty this summer: Lorita Travaglia, James Wallace, Sharon Wehner, Dana Benton, Bryce Lee, Jonelle Mireles, Ellen Kerkhoff, Whitney Waugh, Jennifer Haws, Sarah Selden, Bobbie Jaramillo, Debra Mercer, and Jamie Lane Youtsey. And me.

We are set for an exciting 2016-2017 season!
